Welcome to this new adventure of cooperative continuing education in
particle technology, which uses the World-Wide-Web and print in tandem.
This peer-reviewed journal is the consequence of discussions held
at the 1997 Conference on Chemical Engineering Education, which was
sponsored by the American Society for Engineering Education.
The meeting was held at Snowbird, Utah, and the magnificent vistas
and warm hospitality at this famous ski resort surely helped us
develop a vision that was both grand and attainable.
A year of hard work by many people has now brought forth
this first issue, with articles that aim to bring to you
the best understanding of each area within particle technology.
Each article was written by someone experienced in presenting
the material and reviewed and edited by senior professionals
in the field to ensure that the concepts are sound and that
the presentation is clear.
The journal is an adjunct to the Web site, which has a large
number of links to tutorial material. While those articles were
selected as useful educational material, many have not been
through a peer review process, and they have not been edited
to conform to the style used in ERPT articles.
Each part of the project has its strengths and weaknesses.
We rely on our colleagues and our audience to contribute material
that will provide continuous improvement to the site.
Future issues will contain Guest Editorials written by senior
members of the particle technology community. The future of
particle technology will be assured if we can provide students
and industrial practitioners with a sound base of understanding.
Please re-visit the ERPT Web site whenever you
--- need a better understanding of some part of PT
--- want some ideas to solve a problem in PT
--- want to contribute an educational article or link
