2010 June 17 (Thursday) - Jessica Stinson, from Operations & Safety LLC, provided a timely talk on Plant Explosions and Process Safety. Deborah discussed process safety and how inattention can lead to catastrophic events. The BP refinery explosion in Texas City was highlighted as a specific example. 2010 April 6 (Tuesday) - DVS hosted, and the Wilmington Section co-promoted, the 13th annual installment of the CEO Lecture Series. This year Ellen Kullman, CEO of DuPont, gave a very captivating presentation.

2010 March 30 (Tuesday) - Dennis Williams from Basell USA gave a talk titled "How Much Statistics Do You Need to Know? Industrial Applications of Statistics". This talk specifically focused on problems related to random phenomena that are commonly encountered in the chemical industry.

2010 February 23 (Tuesday) - Charles Anderson, Director of New Applications at Air Liquide, presented on a new "Simplified Biogas to Pipeline Process". Oktoberfest Social/Brewery Tour
2009 October 22 (Thursday) - In what is becoming an annual tradition, the Delaware Valley Section once again returned to Victory Brewing Company, manufacturer of highly acclaimed, award winning beer for a premier fall social event. The Wilmington Section joined the Delaware Valley Section as a co-host for Oktoberfest '09, and for more infomration please see the DVS Events page
Local Section Meeting
2009 September 24 (Thursday) - June Wispelwey, executive director of AIChE, came and spoke about a series of initiatives that focused on: the role of professional societies in addressing energy problems, recently launched tools for the chemical engineering communitity, and other efforts that are in the pipeline. 2009 May 5 (Tuesday) - Dr. Robert C. Fry, Senior Associate Economist with DuPont, gave his perspective on the current Economic Outlook. Dr. Fry and his colleagues at DuPont's Economist Office have been named amongst the top forecasters by The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and Bloomberg. Networking Happy Hour
2009 Mar 19 (Thursday) - Members of the Student Chapter of the AIChE at the Univ. of Delaware helped the bartenders at Timothy's on the Riverfront in Wilmington DE during Happy Hour (5 - 7 PM) as a fundraiser for their chapter. The high quality of discussion among the students (all seniors) and attendee (all Fellow) compensated for the modest turnout.
Biotechnology Tour of the Delaware Biotechnology Institute (DBI)
2009 Feb 24 (Tuesday) - This overview and tour of the DBI at the Univ. of Delaware in Newark DE was co-sponsored by the Wilmington Area Section and the Delaware Valley Section. Some 70 people heard the talks and went on the walks through the laboratories. Most of the group continued on to a networking dinner event at the Univ. of Delaware's Blue & Gold Club.
